This house looks out over the Columbia River Gorge, and was one end of the old Oregon Trail. The "end" was actually the start for the Pioneers heading to the rich Willamette Valley, as they had to decide whither to continue down the Columbia River or find another way around the Cascade Mountains. The Dalles, Oregon was the community that grew up as a result of that decision.

Columbia Gorge Community College, Pioneer Cemetary and the new Armory is securing the ground above this property, with a secure access in front, created by by the steepness of terrain that creates the spectacular view. This view includes local businesses such as Google, along with mother nature's Mt. Adam in the west, the Columbia River in the center, and the man made wonder, The Dalles Dam in the east.

The property this home is located on was plotted as two parcels once, but configuration was not approved by the City of The Dalles. It looks like with a little imagination, the parcel could be divided into two single family units.
