This property is located overlooking the Albemarle Sound in Washington County, North Carolina in the small community of Roper. The town of Plymouth is 9 miles west; Edenton is 8 miles across the sound but about 20 miles driving distance. The outer banks of North Caroline (Nags Head, Manteo, Kitty Hawk) can be reached in 1 hour, Greenville NC in just over 1 hour, Washington in 40 minutes, Raleigh in 2 hours, Elizabeth City in 1 hour and Norfolk Virginia in 1 hour and 45 minutes.

 

The home is within four miles of the mouth of the Roanoke, Middle and Cashie Rivers. Mackeys creek and marina, complete with a very nice restaurant can be reached by boat or vehicle in less than 10 minutes. Boat trips are occasionally taken for an evening meal at the Mackeys restaurant or to Edentons waterfront for a meal.

 

The location of this property is at the feeding ground of one of the states top Stripped bass (rock fish) and bass fishing areas. Flounder and white perch are also favorite catches for the locals. Edenton and Edenton bay can be seen eight miles across the sound from this location as well as the mouth of the Chowan River. Skiing, boating, fishing and sailing are all available on the sound. A 52 pier with a 14 X 16 deck and a modern 21 boat house located at the bulkhead both accommodate fishing, sunning and water activities. The boat is always available for use as the average depth of the water at the bulkhead is 3.5 feet. The home is the sixth house from the end of Albemarle Beach road with very little non resident traffic. Ospreys nest in the cypress trees during the summer months and eagles perch in the trees while hunting in the fall & winter months. Innsbrook Golf & Boat club can be seen across the sound and is 18 miles by land. This is an Arnold Palmer signature course. All surrounding towns have nice golf facilities as well.
