We moved into our custom built new home in the fall of 1989. We came to Greenwood from Alaska homestead property.
We are on the outskirts of Greenwood near the Greenwood County Airport. Our family had been involved in aviation for some time.
There is 2500' under roof with 1980' heated in the main house. There are three bedrooms and 2.5 baths located on 1.87 acres.There are some pines on the front and rear with lots of hardwoods and dogwoods.The whole lot is developed. It is left natural on the front,rear and left side. The balance is a nice lawn with a programmable sprinkler system. The whole property has a parklike country feeling but it is within ten minutes of almost anything in Greenwood including the super Walmart or the Mall.
It is locared in the county so there is no double taxation. Property tax last year was under$1000 w/homestead exemption.
I spent my years here as a contracting professional running my own business. When building this house for my family I put in high quality Windows and Doors with well insulated ceilings and 6" exterior walls for energy efficiency sheathed in solid OSB board covered with premium Vinyl Siding and Soffits. The house is energy efficient and virtually maintenance free. Average total utilities (water,gas,electricity) are about 170.00 per month year round. Front and rear porches have concrete floors.
The first outbuilding is a 16x20 office building in the rear at the tree line. It has heat and air and now doubles as a recreation room.
Secondly I built a 24x20 hobby shop w/ a 12x24 covered patio on the left side for cookouts and socials.The other side also has a 12x24 covered carport which I used for my worktruck.There is a large stone lined firepot near the patio for bonfires and to burn deadfall from trees.

There is an 11" wide circular paved driveway to access the house ,garage and hobby shop area with gravel drive to work buildings further back on the property.
This place was set up as a home business location. It is perfect for any home based service business w/lots of room and storage in multiple outbuildings.
Greenwood has a large 25 mile long lake suitable for fishing, boating and skiing with a nice State Park on the lower end near the Dam.
The area is a nice mild four season location with lots of Southern charm. It boasts an award winning downtown renovation. Higher education is provided by Lander University and Piedmont Technical College. Healthcare is anchored by Self Regional Hospital which has an excellent reputation and boasts services not usually available in a community of this size. Cultural opportunities abound with musical and theater presentations available both locally and within easy driving distance. Greenville,Spartanburg,Augusta Ga. and Columbia are within an hours driving time including GSP Airport for access to the National Air Transport System.
