The lovely 2.5 story Georgian Revival known as “Heart’s Content” features original oak floors, six unique carved mantles and hand-printed wallpaper original to the home. The ceilings are 12 ft high and covered in ornate “punched tin”. The center hallway features a grand mahogany staircase; on the newel post stands a statue of Cupid, chosen by the original owner, Annie Hosley,  who gave the home its name. An elevator was installed in the 1940’s and, still operational, remains a novel feature of the home.

Just through the back entrance is an inviting sun room and gourmet kitchen that includes a 6 burner Viking oven and a Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer. The large half acre lot includes landscaped gardens, a koi pond, an enclosed garage, a stand alone office/workshop and a fenced back yard with a huge pecan tree. A huge wrap-around porch with wicker seating is what makes you know you are in the old South!

Heart’s Content is located in the historic district of Canton, Mississippi. Much of Canton is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The town square boasts a beautiful antebellum courthouse and  is a short walk from the home. Canton is 25 miles from the state capital, Jackson.

The home is currently a private residence but was operated as a bed and breakfast for three years. Heart’s Content has hosted many weddings and other events.
