This house has 15 rooms and 3,800+ square feet of living space. There is the potential for 5-6 bedrooms. There are 2 full baths, one on the main floor and one on the second floor. Large laundry room on second floor.  Large, unfinished basement with an inside entrance and an outside entrance.  Large attic on the third floor for additional storage or potential for additional bedroom or office. Large, original carriage house/garage in the backyard.  This is located next to an alley that runs behind the house, not renovated, but has great potential for a studio, guest house, in-laws or rental unit.  This overlooks the heated, inground, saltwater pool. The house is located on 2 city lots and the total property measures 91-feet wide and 231-feet deep. The landscaping is mature with many large trees, (maple, pine, catalpa, magnolia) with 15+ perennial and raised bed gardens.

The woodwork in the house is maple with an egg and dart carved pattern throughout the house. The staircase is gorgeous and is the first thing you see upon entering the home. There is a large landing halfway up to the second floor with a huge, beautiful, leaded glass window that overlooks the side yard. The doors are huge, 8-feet tall and also have the egg and dart pattern on them. To the right of the foyer is a pocket door that measures 5 -feet wide and is absolutely stunning to see and operate. There are many closets in this house. There is a huge, walk-in closet under the staircase that winds around to the reading nook at one end of the foyer. There are 2 large built-in closets in the upstairs dressing room. There is large linen/storage closet in the upstairs hallway, and the bedroom at the back of the house has a large closet as well.

The yard is a gardener's paradise with many perennial garden beds.  A planting list is included with the house.  Our yard and gardens were featured on the Gratiot County Garden Tour of 2006, hosted by local Master Gardeners.

The pool in the backyard is an eco-friendly saltwater pool. The pool has a gas heater and measures 32 by 16 and is 5 deep in the deepest end with a slide for added fun.  The pool features fiber optic lighting that illuminates the pool in tropical colors at night and provides a festive atmosphere. The pool utilizes a salt cell to manufacture natural chlorine eliminating the need for chemicals in the pool. A couple of 40-pound bags of table salt in the spring are usually all it takes to get the pool ready for swimming. The pool and stamped concrete decking were put in 5 years ago.

A new Bryant gas boiler was installed in 1995.  The house is heated with antique steam radiators located in each room of the house and provides a warm, even heat and eliminating dust and airborne irritants in the home.  The radiators are excellent for drying mittens and coats in the winter. The back porch has electric baseboard heat, as well as the Jotul gas stove. The house stays cool in the summer, due to the many mature trees and the construction of the home. The roof is in good condition. The house also has 2 chimneys, which are also in good condition.

The house is located on a street with many historic Victorian homes, a quiet, tree-lined street where people still sit on the front porch and take life slow, a place where your neighbors are your friends. Our street is a place where annual caroling parties are held and impromptu neighborhood get-togethers are frequent. Ithaca is a town where an old-fashioned and slower pace still prevails. Our town has a population of 3,000 people. We have a lovely downtown area with many stores including a dimestore, a hardware store, antique store, winery, coffee shops, yarn and fiber store, movie rental store, and many excellent dining establishments from fine dining to family style and fast food. We have a FunFest the end of August that is very family-oriented and has many different events for young and old, including our famous bed race through town. Ithaca has 3 schools, an elementary, middle and high school. Our sports program is very strong and our community is very involved, supportive and encouraging to our kids. We are a huge farming community as well. We have a beautiful, vintage courthouse as we are the county seat for Gratiot County. This house is located 2 blocks from main street, so a walk to town is only 10 minutes. We are 3-minutes away from public, wooded, hiking and bike trails and cross-country ski trails. We are located in the middle of the state (40 miles north of Lansing). We are 40 minutes from Lansing, 45 minutes to Midland, 60 minutes to Saginaw and 5 hours to Chicago.
