I began building this cabin using logs from Colorado about 3
years ago and finally finished it earlier this year. The cabin was built mixing new technology
with old craftsmanship. It has two
bedrooms and a full bathroom. The
kitchen was nicely done with hickory cabinets.
This cabin has true large exposed beam ceiling that is absolutely breathtaking.
The cabin is extremely energy efficient. The exterior walls are constructed using full
8x8 logs and well insulated between each layer. The roof is super insulated using 8” foam
Structure Insulated Panels (SIPs). The
cabin is heated and cooled using an energy efficient heat pump. Pella windows and Marvin Door also help with
keeping utilities efficient.
*The Land *
The log cabin sits on 13 acres at the end of a county
maintained road. The land is secluded
and surrounded by mature trees. There is
some open pasture and a small area fenced that would be perfect for horses or
other livestock. The 2-3 acre pond was
installed 5 years ago and is 17’ feet deep at its deepest point. We have stocked the pond with bluegill, redear,
catfish and bass. The pond is very
This cabin would make a perfect vacation home, weekend
getaway or even a very nice homestead. I
had begun doing daily rentals this past summer and have just been overwhelmed
by the response even with little advertising.
Log cabin is located just off of Southern Illinois Wine
Trail near the Shawnee National Forest. Located
just 2 miles off of highway 57.
