Ice storm took out power. Outside was 14 deg, the house only drop to 55 deg inside. When the sun came up the house heated to 65 deg. With no heat on. This house was built to give you the best fuel use that can be had. R50 walls. Check this one out. You might be able to find a house for less. But, if you are looking for something better, you must look at the GREEN construction of this house. It is worth the extra money. Green Construcion. Get all of the tax brakes with an energy saving construction. (Check with your tax guy.) With 12 inch thick, reinforced concrete, R50 walls, and R60 rated roof. This house cost more to build, but the saving in heating and cooling costs is money well spent. Last years heat and hot water was less than $1000 for a family of four.
This house was appraised at $450,000 in 2005. New 11/08 appraisal at $376,000. Even with the down market, due to the construction, this house is keeping its value.
The town just did a full town wide assessment and valued the house at $380,000.00. This dropped the yearly tax by 1/3. Remember NH has no sales or income tax. All taxes total, it is cheeper, tax wise, to live in NH. Then, to get the tax lower, we appealed and got the value even lower. So, you will have a real low tax for the true value of the house.
If you finish the basement, you will have over 3132 squre feet of living space.

If you are concerned with the cost of heating now, just think of what it will cost ten years for now. I have a house that will protect you against the uncontrollable costs. The walls of this house are 12 inch thick, steel reinforced concrete. It has a R50 insulation rating. Put a wood burning system in and start stacking your wood off of your own lot. Now you have control of the cost of heating and a house built to last longer than the regular built home.
