Superintendent Eden and his wife built this house,4 blocks north of the U.S.Courthouse in Okmulgee,OK in 1927.  The Edens' resided in this small cottage home until retirement.   Original solid wood front door and key, hardwood floors, Windsor Fireplace, double flu,(working),large living room, dutch kitchen, concrete stem wall, separate garage, energy efficient. The northeast corner lot at the intersection of North Morton Avenue and Trent Street, 5 blocks north of the Federal Building, Police Headquarters, and The Historical Capitol  of The Muscogee (Creek)  Nation.   Diagonally across the avenue/street intersection from The Hart Mansion built by Ben Hart, founder of the 1st National Bank of Dallas,TX and 1st National Bank of Muskogee,OK, and across the street east of the Wheatly Mansion built by a City Engineer and manager of City government.

This geographical area of the United States was ordered by then U.S.President Theodore Roosevelt, due to plentiful and abundant and easily accessable mineral resources, transformed from Territorial legal status to Statehood legal status to help lower the price of crude oil, which had caused a world wide economic depression.        Interestingly, then President Theodore Roosevelt, the Cowboy President, was not permitted to run for re-election by the New York Republican Party controllers, so he formed his own political party and ran as a' Bull Moose'.  His actions as Chief Executive did, however, result in oil's per barrel price dropping to 'two-bits' or fifty cents per barrel by the year 1910, and a very expansive and worldwide economic business boom lasting many years after the former President's death at 60 years of age.

The maternal Grandfather of present U.S.Senator John McCain (Arizona), made so much money in The Indian Territory near Okmulgee prior to Statehood, that he never had to work again, and U.S.Senator McCain still receives over $187,000.00 per year from his Maternal Grandfather's Estate, made in The Indian Territory.

Former President Theodore Roosevelt was a genuine war hero ground soldier in the U.S.Army and the only individual the serve as U.S.President  ever to be an awardee of the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions in ground combat in the U.S.Army.      Awarded subsequent to his demise by dysentary at sixty years of age.   Both of his sons were killed in World Wars. Theodore was the main organizer in promoting and establishing the National Geographic Society, and establishing the National Park system when he, by Executive Order established Yellowstone National Park.

He was a 5th cousin  of the later President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, their only relation being by marriage, and that Delano continued Theodore's fuel price controls and extended consumer price controls to all manner of consumer retail goods and services by the Federal Agency named   The Office of Price Administration, which continued until President Jimmy Carter de-funded the OPA during his Presidency WHICH RESULTED in Carter's political defeat by Ronald Reagan after regular  gasoline was permitted to increase in price 42 cents in one month.!!  President Franklin Roosevelt repeatley told and wrote that Theodore Roosevelt was the greatest individual that he had ever met.

Back to Mr. Eden, he built and was Superintendent of the Phillips Refinery Company plant in Okmulgee,Okmulgee was home to four oil refineries at one time during the oil boom period from the Territorial year 1902 until 1924.  In the year 2005 the State of Texas' oil production was less than the crude oil production of Okmulgee County in the year 1919.  The Phillips 66 Refinery Plant, now being de-constructed,  is 3/8 of a mile northeasterly of The Eden House. Neighborhood is mainly retirees, and has many large shade trees. The home next door has been listed for sale by the owner, whom has been retired for many years. This house is suited for a quiet couple or single adult. Please see color photography.  Yearly ad valorem taxes are approximately $140.00.
