Serenity Now is the one place where a couple can find solitude. From every room and each of the three decks one can behold the majesty and presence of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the Spring, watch nature transform itself as the long dormant flora becomes a cacophony of fresh hues. In the Summer, the slopes are carpeted in lush green. Wildlife, particularly white-tailed deer and turkey are abundant.  In the Fall, each day brings a new surprise culminating in early November with a bold splash of reds, oranges, and yellows. Winter is pristine, serene, hushed.  Hopefully, a benign snowfall will bring a dazzling white interlude to the gray. 

The IDEAL Location

Serenity Now sits on the slopes of White Oak Mountain in beautiful Polk County.  At 1/2 mile up the mountain and just 1,506 feet above sea level, Serenity Now has all the advantages of mountain living except there's no treacherous drive, high winds, or icy roads found at the mountain's higher elevations or summit.  Serenity Now is only 5 minutes from downtown Columbus and Interstate 26.  Sophisticated Tryon is only 10 minutes away.  The charming towns of Landrum and Saluda are a mere 15 minutes away.  Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, just 20 minutes away. Bigger metro areas Asheville, Spartanburg, Hendersonville, and Greenville are within 45 minutes by car. 

About White Oak Mountain

White Oak Mountain, proudly looming over the Carolina Piedmont, is a surprise and visual delight.  Just one mile from Serenity Now one discovers Shunkawakan Falls, a ribbon of water tumbling down the mountain.  Pull off on the side of the road and enjoy.  Another mile from the falls one reaches the mountain's summit where views of the South Carolina Piedmont are exhilarating.  On the north side of the mountain at Sunset Rock one can enjoy perhaps the finest panorama of the Blue Ridge Mountains anywhere. On a clear day, Grandfather Mountain is visible from this vantage point as are Mount Mitchell, Mount Pisgah, and Lake Lure. 

The White Oak Mountain Community

The White Oak Mountain homeowners association ensures the development remains a private, secluded, and close-knit community.  Residents are both permanent and part-time.  The association's covenants and restrictions are strict but fair to ensure that the character of the community is undisturbed by haphazard building.  Commercial use of the properties is not allowed.  Annual association fees are reasonable.  Members have access to a community picnic pavillion located at the mountain's summit.  Crystal clear water is from shared wells.

The Home

Serenity Now is a comfortable 1,517 square foot yellow pine log home.  The landscaped exterior includes retaining walls, gravel driveway (room for several automobiles), and a full length front porch.

Serenity Now's kitchen has generous countertops, storage, and all new appliances.  The great room, features a stone fireplace, rich green carpet, french door access to the large screened porch, and abundant windows.  The carpeted master bedroom features french door access to the large deck, a bay window, private access to the large master bath, and a walk-in closet.  The spacious loft bedroom features french door access to the third floor deck, a modest size bathroom with a walk-in shower, a bay window, and two closets.  The sandstone tile floored master bath features a two sink vanity, jacuzzi tub, and a turbo flush toilet.

A full but unfinished basement features a laundry room and access to the ground floor deck.  The basement can be used as a family room, game room, exercise room, or just for storage room.

A full length front porch includes two ceiling vans and a couples swing, perfect for a pleasant interlude.

Screened Porch

The highlight of Serenity Now is it's 12'x24" screened porch.  Enjoy this room for dining, entertaining, and even sleeping when the evenings are enchanting and gentle breezes sweep down the mountain.
