Views are sunrise, eastern facing. You also see the full moon rise over the mountains. The home itself is in near new condition (rarely used.) This architect designed home was built by Brian Colbert. We think in 1999. (close to it, anyway) Decks! Decks! Decks!! Fabulous outdoor living spaces! There is a huge deck to capture those awe inspiring views. The deck wraps around most of the rear of the home and part of it is covered. You can access the deck from the dining area of the kitchen as well as the Great Room. Entrance: The view will grab you from the front door. There is a two story entrance with a bridge on top. From the foyer you see the view!! (You can tell we love views!!). You also see the Great Room. The Great Room has magnificent tongue and groove wood for a ceiling that soars in height. The back wall is a wall of windows. The energy efficient windows are made by Anderson. (You will love the attention to detail in this home.) It has a fantastic STONE fireplace!!! The Kitchen is laid out well. The cabinets have a warm cherry finish. The counters are GRANITE. Appliances are STAINLESS STEEL Adjacent to the kitchen is a Mud Room. This is a large laundry with a sink. You access the double garage from here. The Master Suite is roomy enough to accommodate a king sized bed, but cozy enough to stay warm in winter. The Master bath has a garden tub with that magnificent view again. It also has double vanities and a big roomy shower with two shower heads. There is both a walk in closet and a long room closet with mirrors in the bedroom. All bedrooms have Berber carpet. Across from the bedroom is a small study. We have our computer here (high speed). It has sconce lighting on the walls and additional lights on the stairs. Under the stairs is a large storage area. Also even more storage is downstairs in the hall. This home has storage, storage, storage!!!!!!!!! Upstairs are two nice bedrooms. Each bedroom has two windows, with one window having the mountain view in each room. One bedroom has an adjoining full bath. The other bedroom has access to a half bath and a door (down the hall) to the full bath. In total there are two full baths, and two half baths. (4 thrones) in the house. The 3rd bedroom has a door leading to a walk in, plywood floored attic space. This space is over the garage. If we had kept this home, we were planning to add bark trim to the dormers and paint it brown to take advantage of the craftsman style home has. You can also change the red brick trim to stone trim if you have your heart set on stone accents. This would be easy to do. We bought it from Floridians that used it a few months a year. We think 2400 square feet heated is accurate. The lot is 1.15 acres, with a nice lawn including mountain laurel (kalmia). Access to this home is a paved neighborhood street. We are minutes from King Street and Appalachian State University. There are tons of fabulous restaurants in the aea. You can coast on your bike all the way to the National Champions' playground. You can see fireworks at the college from our deck, but you cant see the town. (So you have little road noise). However, at night, you can see twinkling lights over towards the Blowing Rock area. Kalmia Acres is an established neighborhood with many fine neighbors including judges and university professors. The elevation of the home is 3669 ft on our GPS. You will love living here.
