Unique small town downtown building with living space

This remarkable building was built in 1912 by Will Zorn and is known locally as the Zorn Building. 110 ft .long and 30 ft. wide, it ocdcupies most of a city block in downtown West Plains, Missouri. It was built to be a newspaper office on the street level and a luxurious penthouse apartment on the second floor, and was occupied by the Zorns until Will's death in 1932. Downstairs, it continued to be a newspaper office. All woodwork is solid oak. Downstairs space is open, all 3300 sq. ft. of it, and the front office features an original hexagonal tile floor, a glazed white brick fireplace, and all the original tin ceillngs. Upstairs consists of formal living room, family room, kitchen, three small bedrooms and one huge bedroom, one bathroom with shower, and back porch with south-facing windows. The downstairs space would be ideal for a restaurant, or a professional office, just one block from the Court House and the town square. The downtown area is very active with many restored buildings including a turn of the century Opera House. Sitting on the same lot is a 120 year old Victorian House which was rescued and moved to this location 25 years ago. There is an underground tunnel connecting the old house with the Zorn Building, as well as an underground room. There is a full basement under the house. The building is sound as the day it was finished. All the original brick work is of the finest quality, and has never been tuckpointed and is still in perfect condition on the street-facing street sides. There is not a similar building in this area of Missouri. The building is elegant, striking, and practical. It is a treasure.
