Description:

Contact: Dan Schultz at (707) 954-7743 See http://maitreyamountainvillage.com/Sale_of_property.htm for more pictures and specifics The land, infrastructure, and assets of Maitreya Mountain Village are now for sale at $565,000 (cash). This transaction includes: A) 160 acres of forested property. There is a yellow security gate at the front, red bridge over the Little Jones Creek, and approximately one mile of rocked road which skirt around the east, south and west sides of this square, quarter section of land. Altitude is 750 at the bottom.bridge and 1700 at the top where the community center is located. B) Building one: our largest structure at 2700 sq.ft, Chrysanthemum (otherwise known as the Community Center) which is a sixteen sided, earth sheltered, two-and-a-half-story building, sheathed inside and out with cedar. The building was constructed post-and-beam, so there are no load-bearing walls inside and it is mostly open-room layout on the first floor and completely open on the second. The third story is small mediation room about 160 sq. ft. C) Building two. The hexagon witches hut. It is a two story, 375 sq.ft, hexagonal-shaped cabin with running water, wood stove, and 360 Watts of solar power, using both DC for lights and has an inverter for AC. D) Two primitive cabins. The Half-Moon and A-Frame are small cabins and only the Half-moon has a wood stove. They both sleep a couple of people comfortably. E) Sauna/bathhouse. It has a bath tub, propane shower inside and solar shower outside, and sun room that we either make into a sleeping area for visitors and/or a greenhouse area for seeds/starters. F) The Pavilion. The dimensions are 15' x 45' and it has a greenhouse grade, polycarbonate corrugated roof, two stories, half of the walls open, used mostly for storage. G) Orchard and other agriculture. The twenty-five tree orchard is a young, most of it going on its fourth year, with excellent peach production, some apples and figs, and cherry, pomegranite, plum, persimmon, mulberry, almond, walnut, pear, olive, banana-apple, cranberry, lemon, lime-- fruit yield to come in larger quantities this year. They are all healthy and all the soils are well amended and fertile. There are many kinds of berry bushes including grape, blueberry, stawberry(many), raspberry, boysenberry to compliment the millions (literally) of huckleberry bushes around. We have developed agriculture on raise beds and terraces, too. H) Animals. Daisy and Posie are mother and daughter. Daisy has been a great milker, easy, and produces a half hgallon per day. Posey was freshened in fall and will have kids sometime in April or May. There are nine chickens and a rooster. They are all good layers. I) Other infrastructure. 9000 gallons of water tank storage, both spring fed and catchment. There are also three ponds (large, medium and small) that create their own micro-climates and eco-systems, whcih can be used for other purposes, including irrigation. We estimate the total capacity of the combined ponds at 20,000 gallons. Surrounding area. The Smith River National Recreation Area makes up part of the Six Rivers National Forest. This land is in both. It's a rugged landscape, densely forested, often with steep embankments filled with Douglas Fir, Madrone, Chinkapin Oak and Tan Oak and other hardwoods and pines. Smith River World-class fishing opportunities present for steelhead, salmon and trout nearby on the Smith River, california's only undammed water system. Especially during the summer months, the pure, clear waters of the Smith River are also great for swimming, tubing; as fall and winter approach, fishing and whitewater rafting happens. Redwoods and oceans The redwood forests are close, too, about 15 miles away, with some of the world's tallest old-growth trees. The redwoods are amazing. Return of the Jedi was filmed at Jedediah Smith Redwood Park, nearby. The Pacific Ocean is approximately a 45 minute drive. Native food sources on the property Acorns (the natives staple food), many berries(huckleberry, blackberry, salal, oregon grape, salmonberry, thimbleberry), seasonal greens, and fish. There is a long and bountiful mushroom season, from October though April. Game is abundant for meat eaters. Water The climate is subtropical rainforest with very enjoyable, long, sunny, dry, moderate to hot summers then (suddenly) heavy rains in our twelve weeks of winter (usually some limited, light, transient, snow). You can easily capture an entire year's water requirements with the catchment systems alone, but there are two rivers and several springs on the property.
