I was a lady of the '50s, built at the height of Rock and Roll. What a beautiful young thing I was, a new home for the lady that built me in 1958 and a small two bedroom, one bath attached apartment for her to rent. When she moved in, she tested the floors to the sounds of Rock and Roll. I matured over the years, but I have aged gracefully. I was home only to the lady who built me,and my apartment side had four tenants through the next 49 years. I was sad when my nice owner, who had cared for me so lovingly, decided to move to assisted living in 2007; we had grown old together. I was auctioned off to meet her expenses and then a miracle happened. Another lady who lived nearby bought me and I got a makeover! My workwork, including my knotty pine kitchen cabinets and hardwood floors were scrubbed and cleaned, keeping the retro look. I have a new kitchen floor and appliances, including washer and dryer. new central air and heating, new paint throughout, new bathroom floor, and a complete redo of my front porch. The trees in my yard were trimmed and I got loads of great low-maintenance landscaping along with my original shrubs and new "knock out roses", which looks great next to my white vinyl siding. My bath downstairs sparkles! Two of my bedrooms in the home are downstairs with loads of closet and storage space. I had a new beautiful staircase built in keeping with my pine workwork. At the top of my staircase is a carpeted upstairs room with bath. I have a huge floored attic all around the room upstairs. Under the stairs is a cozy space with a built-in bookshelf. I have a spacious living area and a dining room that looks out over the front porch. Did I mention all the closet and storage space I have? My attached apartment got the same updated treatment.  I have a wonderful small yard for gardening and play. I am now the grand older lady, born in 1958, but 2009 in all my amenities. I would be perfect for a small family, with needs for a mother-in-law apartment or extra income, a great retirement home, or a wonderful getaway for city folks wanting a weekend home with access to Tims ford Lake, Bear Trace Golf, and great hiking.
