What is involved with Pool Maintenance? Is it a lot of work? NO!

It's easy as 123. The following Page is all you need to know.

 

Pool is 24' and has a Jacuzzi brand Cartridge filter pump system and a duel drain and skimmer. Filter automatically runs at night only 8-10 hrs. Estimated energy cost $20/ month plus chemicals, which is another $5-10/month. Most Pool Stores have a referral to a contractor you can hire to do all of the following activities. It is so easy a kid can perform these tasks with proper supervision.

 

Spring open in Early May. You can pay someone to do this, but it is easy to do yourself.

-       Remove debris from winter cover and fill water up to skimmer. Make sure pump and connections are all re-hooked up and run for 24 hours. Take water sample to pool store local place is Austin Pools in Brighton. They will give u a computerized print out of chemistry and what products to balance the pool. (Usually u just needs to add lots of concentrated chorine.) If the water is clear it is good. The pool store will always try to sell you stuff you do not need. Do what they tell you if your water is not clear though. If you added new water it requires metal remover products. Once you get the hand of this you can do it yourself at home with test strips.

 

Every 1 - 2 weeks in summer takes 5 minutes to complete the following tasks. (Again you can pay to have someone come to your home 1-2 weeks to do this as well.)

-       Shock the pool meaning u just dump 1 gallon of liquid chlorine in it through the skimmer or powder concentrate. (Buy a sell self chorine feeder and you would not have to do this task which is easy.)

-       Put 2 oz of Algaecide in it. (A bottle wills last 2 months).

-       Put 1-2 chlorine sticks in the skimmer box and occasionally rinse the debris basket clean.

-       Keep the Solar cover on pool when not in use and water stays crystal clear and up to 10 degrees warmer. When using pool take a few minutes to skim the top of the water for any debris that may have fallen off of the solar cover when you took it off.

 

Once to Twice a summer maintenance.

-       Vacuum the debris leaves, etc that may of settle on the floor of the pool. This task is not necessary unless you can visually see a lot of debris since the filter normally will keep the pool clear. A 30ft hose is connected to the filter pump through the skimmer. It is micro filter so it will catch everything. They also sell robots that vacuum the floor without a human but can be pricey.

-       Once Midsummer end July. Usually do this after u have vacuumed first. Remove the cartridge filter out of the pump. Use pool filter cleaning spray and let solution soak for a little bit.  Use garden hose on high pressure to rinse clean and put back together.

 

Close pool last week of Sept (Oct) for winter. (Again Pool stores provide referrals to have a service guy do this for a charge.)  

-       Put in special winterizing pool chems and let them mix in then drain pool 1 foot of water. Pool connects to an underground drainage system. Put on winter cover. Disconnect filter pump and store away close all pipe valves.

 

Now you can’t wait till next summer.

If you are still unsure of the pool there are plenty of neighbors in the area that will take it away for free since the surround neighborhood several homes do have a pool. A new pool of this size 24 round and 4 foot deep installed can costs anywhere from $6,000-$10,000!

* But if this is just not for you, luckily it can be broken down without much impact on landscaping being it is above ground. Just wait for new grass to grow.
