Our house is an all brick house, 3464 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths. It is located in N.W. Gainesville, FL in an upscale gated community of 9 properties, each with a minimum of 5 acres, all fenced. This property is zoned for excellent public schools in Gainesville: Hidden Oak Elementary, Fort Clarke Middle School and Buchholtz High School. The Canterbury subdivision has many walking paths shaded by large trees. We are in a very quiet, serene and secluded area. The house is very bright and airy throughout. There are 30 doors and windows (including several French doors and an 8ft by 12 ft sliding glass door) that open to the outside. Every part of the house receives natural light from outside. All the bedrooms and the three downstairs bathrooms have either doors or windows that can be opened to the outside. The double entrance door is a 6 ft wide, made of solid mahogany. The front steps and covered porch are covered with slates from Maine. The main part of the house (living room, dining room, family room and kitchen) has a 12 foot ceiling. The master bedroom (downstairs) has 10 foot ceiling. One bedroom (our youngest daughter's) has a 14.5 feet cathedral ceiling and a 5ft by 12 ft loft used as a play/study area. The kitchen, breakfast area and family room are very bright and open. The kitchen has a very large island with a downdraft range. Kitchen cabinets are 42 inches tall solid maple. The upstairs section consists of a very large work/play area with many built-in desks, booksheves and cabinets, a bedroom and a full bath. It opens to a balcony with a beautiful view of the property. All the uptairs area is covered with wood flooring. The house was built in 1993 and has recently been renovated to include granite counter tops in bathrooms and all new very good quality carpets. The property has two sets of fences: an inner fence that encloses the house (the part that needs to be mowed and maintained) and an outer fence that encloses over 4 acres to keep horses or cows.
