Century Old Beauty just Wating for You!!

     This century old home has stood proud and maintained her structural integrity.  Enjoy the charm of this 100+ year old beauty as you look through the pictures. Though well maintained and updated, it retains the ambiance of the olden days. Removing dated wallpaper and painting new warm wall colors give the home a refreshed feel.  Even with the addition of the den, the original floor plan was maintained.  Two bedrooms are downstairs and the third upstairs-"The Man Cave".  There is access to the upstairs storage area (14x10) from this room. The large den with cathedral ceilings is the main living area, allowing the "Parlor", with the beautiful bow windows and mock fireplace, to serve as the formal living room.  The etched-glass antique door enhances the front entrance.  The utility/laundry room is right off the kitchen.  The parlor and kitchen still maintain the 14' and 12' ceilings respectfully, the remaining rooms have 8'.

     The deck and brick patio overlook a beautifully landscaped yard, flowerbeds with annuals, day lilies, and roses for year round color; azaleas, iris, daffodils, and narcissus for lots of spring color.  Mature pecan, oaks, sycamore trees, and at least a 150 year old pine provide abundent shade. Smaller trees include maples, cedars, magnolias, tulip, and of course crepe myrtles.  The yard is fenced (wood) and has a wood and wire cross fence. The lot size is .70 acres and utilitizes a 5-station watering system on city water. The storage building is great for sporting and yard equipment and also serves as a potting shed and winter storage for potted plants.  The yard is large enough for a playset, pool, and garden.

     36' gravel RV pad has 30 amp hookup with water and sewer accessible.  The sewer PVC pipe lines and insulted water lines are new.  A new 20-year roof was completed in 2005.  Terminix (Terminix.com) does annual termite inspections.

     Grapeland is a small community within Houston County, Texas.  With a lot of history in the county, it is not difficult to find places to explore and visit.  Cattle and horse ranches, farming areas that grow watermelons, peanuts, annual crops, hay,logging, and business' that are suppliers for these related industries give opportunities for employment.  Vulcraft Plant, division of Nucor is here.  Grapeland is located in East Texas, "The Piney Woods", between Crockett and Palestine and half way between Houston and Dallas.  Boating, camping, fishing, hunting provide many recreational opportunities.  Rodeos, livestock shows, and all kinds of festivals in Houston County and East Texas provide for good family entertainment.  Summers can be a little warm to hot but the winters are oo-so mild.  We never rule out a brief snowstorm so do not get rid of the warm weather gear.

     From the house, one can walk to the Post Office, bank, cafes, and the beautifully restored church that is now the Library.  The high school is also two blocks away and for the younger ones, the school bus stops in front of the house.
