Beautiful 57 acre farm for sale in Bow, WA
Outbuildings on the farm include the old granary now used for a shop; a huge old barn used for equipment & hay storage; a 2006 80' x 48' barn w/9 or 10 stalls, 16'x16' & 12'x16', wash area--complete with washer/dryer hookups, hot water heater--all three built inside a cupboard with heat lamp to protect pipes and hoses during freezes) and basin with hot and cold water and hose attachment to faucet, tack area, paddocks outside; & 2 small sturdy buildings, both with new Champion metal roofs--one used for garden equipment &/or feed for pets & the other a very roomy dog house complete with kennel. Both the old and the new barns have water & electric to them; the shop has electric to it. The shop has a new Champion metal roof.
The fields are hay fields also used for potatoes & other crops. Approximately 10 acres are used for the house, out-buildings & pastures for horses, etc. The whole property is fenced & cross-fenced, with a 100+ gpm (according to previous owner/farmer) ag-well, frost-free (city) water spigots for each 2 fields to the south & one for the north field.
1928 house remodel was finished mid-2006. Floor beams were treated properly, new insulation was installed. Electrical outlets were added to four sides of the house; 2 water spigots + a yard frost free spigot. House was repainted including the trim. New high quality metal roof installed. A small deck runs alongside the house for entry into the mud room. All the electric was completely replaced and updated. The old baseboard heaters were stripped out; new propane forced-air heats the entire house. A generator attachment outside the house is already wired & ready for emergencies. Outside the original front door and sidelights--the glass of which was replaced with ice-chip glass for privacy and yet lets in light--there is a small front porch. The house has a living room with a woodburning stove on a platform that matches the tile counter tops in the kitchen, office w/closet, large kitchen, full guest bath, small mudroom w/laundry & basin, hall closet, master bedroom, bathwith separate toilet enclosurecloset; upstairs is a half bath & 2 bedrooms with walk in closets. All 3 bedrooms & closets are carpeted; the baths (except the 1/2 bath) mudroom, hall & kitchen are tiled; the rest of the house has restored original wood floor. All the windows--including those in the new addition which was designed to closely match the rest of the house--are trimmed with the wide original trim which blends with the wood floor. Walls were re-skinned or have new drywall, the whole interior painted in styles befitting the era. All bedrooms & living room have ceiling fans. A lovely crystal chandelier hangs over the dining room area which adds style and class to the farmhouse dinner table.
The house is surrounded by lawn on 3 sides; on the fourth lies the driveway which continues all the way back to the new barn & circles back around to another gate out front. Many young fruit & other trees have been planted. Several older trees & flowering bushes continue to thrive. The house/yard/barn/field water is metered, clear and tasty. Both the water from Blanchard Edison and the electric from Puget Sound are easily affordable. Views of mountains, hills, or islands fill the horizon; from upstairs one can see the bay. On a clear day you can see the mountains of Canada. Bald eagles, herons, ducks, and geese are frequent visitors; wild swans fly overhead in the winter. The neighbors are wonderful; little towns & recreation are a short drive almost any direction. An outstanding elementary school is just about a mile around the corner--next to the fire department. A small, friendly post office, restaurant, collectibles shop & a gift shop lie about 1/4 mile south.
Anacortes is about 20 minutes, La Conner20 minutes, Everett 40 minutes south, Bellingham 20 minutes north, Edison 2 minutes, Burlington & the nearest high school 10 minutes; Mount Baker for skiing, snowboarding etc lies about 2 hours drive from the property.
