PS SAINT SIMONS ISLAND WAS HIT BY HURRICANE MATTHEW. MANY HOUSES SUSTAINED SERIOUS DAMAGE DUE TO FALLEN TREES, HIGH WINDS AND RAIN AND TIDE SURGES. HOWEVER, OUR HOUSE HAD NO DAMAGE DUE TO NO OVERHANGING LIVE OAK TREES. FURTHER, OUR HOUSE WAS CONSTRUCTED USING HURRICANE METAL STRAPS ON ALL JOISTS, TRUSSES AND ROOF SUPPORTS, AS WELL AS 1/2" LAG BOLTS TO SECURE THE PORCH DECKS AND SLAB PLATES FOR THE BASEMENT WALLS. ALL OF OUR WINDOWS HAVE "HURRICANE" RESISTANT DBL. INSULATED PANES. WE SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY WHEN CONSTRUCTING OUR HOUSE TO MAKE IT AS HURRICANE PROOF AS POSSIBLE, AND THIS IS ONE OF THE HIDDEN FEATURES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND VALUE OF THIS PROPERTY. THE QUALITY CONSTRUCTION AND STABILITY OF OUR HOUSE, NO DOUBT, ENABLED IT TO WITHSTAND THE FORCES OF HURRICANE MATTHEW AND REMAIN TOTALLY UNDAMAGED.
